It Can Never Be the Same Encore 4: 32. A Forest 33. Boys Don't Cry I wasn't sure how this would turn out. I think it's better than I expected, but there are a few minor issues that I will describe. I don't normally like to keep the intros, but I left most of this one because of the audible voices complaining about people standing up despite having seats. This explains all the noise in the intro of "Out of This World". I was all situated with my recorder and hadn't anticipated standing up. I had to do some adjustment. Sorry. (The "needs to be louder" comment was presumably referring to the music; it certainly wasn't directed at me.) The subsequent cheering is in reference to Robert Smith finally turning around to face the audience. I edited the encore breaks and outro, as is my preference, but made sure to keep all of Robert's banter. The break between the third and fourth encores is so short, though, that I left that one in. Everyone in my section suddenly started sitting down in the middle of "The End of the World". (I guess I'm not the only one that doesn't like that song.) At about :42 you can hear the sound noticably change as I too sit down, although there is not any mic handling noise. There is, however, mic handling noise between a few other songs, but very rarely during the songs themselves. I did my best. The audience stood up again in the middle of "A Forest", but you can't really tell when I stood up as well. Other issues: Someone near me sneezes in the middle of "Never Enough" (about 1:29 and 1:31). There is an annoying loud burst of audience cheering during the "Hello?" outro of "Wrong Number" (about 5:18). There are a lot of guest vocals from the women next to me. Thankfully they are on key and not too loud. However, they are just about always present. They even knew the words to the b-sides. Lastly, Robert teases a song after "In Between Days", but I cannot tell what it is. I can rarely understand his banter as it is, but after he sings a line or two, he says, "I tell you, Austin's getting to me." This tour has been fantastic, and the show in Englewood CO was no exception. I absolutley love the album Bloodflowers, and that is what we got. Man their shows are LOUD (a great thing!). I would love to catch them again on this tour if possible.I am really happy with this recording through track 30. My batteries went our during The Walk, and I didn't catch it until Let's Go to Bed had started. I had a backup recorder, and turned it on, but it's levels weren't adjusted low enough and got a little distortion. Still really decent on those track too. What a stunning gig! Robert has been on fire this tour, but just the combination of a setlist here and what he was channeling I think really pushes it to the 'very special' category. The One Hundred Years (with war atrocities projected on the screen) > End main-set closer kinda left me standing with my mouth open pretty much through the encore break. And yes, I think Wish as sort of the main-set envelope works incredibly well. Taping-wise - much less audience action around me than night 1 (well, a couple making out in front of me for most of the gig - but QUIETLY - that’s what matters, right? ). There were a couple of wrinkles however… let’s just say ‘female+alone’ combination in some weird ways pushes some interactive buttons in random audience members… - but ultimately, there is a universal ‘zip it!!!’ sign and magic powers of BLG mastering Also many thanks go to obcdobcd (he knows why!) This show was just pure joy. A beautiful tapestry of sound was woven this night at the world's most famous arena and I was lucky enough to be in attendance. My only regret is that I did not attend the first two shows of this three night MSG stand. This was my 7th show recorded with my trusty Nokia Lumia Icon Windows Phone and, once again, I think the results are rather damn good. The built-in HAAC mics can stand up to 140db without distorting the recording and there are no levels to set. You can't go wrong AND you don't have to worry about sneaking in 'equipment'. Some 'on the fly' splits: after track 04, after, after track 08, after track 12, after track 17, after track 18, all encores. I then used Audacity to split the large WAV files recorded into single tracks. Some drunken comments pre-show (track 00) and post-show (track 33) that you can feel free to delete. Goes right into "Out of This World". Found this one on the Cure For All blog. I saw my version of this show was up but there was a link to a Matrix version done by X. Dowloaded this version as a 2.5GB 32it/48khz PCM/WAV file (no info file, just the large WAV file). Confirmed that it was a matrix of my recording and the one recorded by Ed Davis and shared by BLG. The metadata on the original file had this info: "Adobe Premier Pro CC 2015 for windows". I would imagine this was used by X to produce this Matrix (I would not even come close to knowing how this is done). Split tracks using Audacity (saved to 16bit/48khz PCM/WAV). Removed a redundant 1min, 59sec bit before track 20 (leaves off a bit of audience but Robert Smith talking isn't repeated). Converted to FLAC (Level 8) using Trader's Little Helper. Some very nice cover art for this show (by jojo) was up on the CFA blog and I've included that. I think the end product sounds rather good. It's interesting at the very least. Thanks as well to nausearockpig who agreed to master it and clean things up as required. We were just in front of the soundboard to the left. This was my seventh time seeing them and did not disappoint with a good Disintegration-themed set. The crowd was probably a bit more into the pop songs that they could sing along to. I like the noisy ones you can headbang to and best song for me was One Hundred Years for the power and the visuals. Runners up were It Can Never Be The Same and Disintegration but all of it was great. was great to see the band with Reeves in action as well - he is a great player. Simon was pretty fun to watch too and did laps of the stage to keep us all amused. Total playing time was a hair over three hours not including the encore breaks. Do whatever you want with it but please do not sell this recording. NRP notes: * The feedback outro of From The Edge Of The Deep Green Sea merges into the sampled intro of Want. It sounds rad! There are a few fade outs & ins & small edits to remove any unimportant crowd noise, other than that I didn't do much to what is a very good capture. I was in general admission standing, originally about 8 meters away from the front of the stage but during the first song it became evident that the mix down there was not good, also was surrounded by talkative ladies. So I moved after the end of the first number. Theres about 20 seconds where I had my back to the stage. The new position was much better and fortunately the good people in front of me did not talk at all. Some on the sides whooped occasionally but hardly ever during songs. Any crowd noise has been lowered , so unless you are listening on phones it should not be intrusive. Great show and once I moved the sound is nice, some of the trippy guitar heavy songs are a little muddy in parts but its a good show overall, around 170 minute once I removed the applause for most of the encores. Excellent concert by a well-rehearsed band. According to sources close to the band, they rehearsed approx. 90-100 songs for this tour to be able to play long and unique setlists every night. Almost 3 hours later and they have nailed each and every song perfectly. To be honest they could probably have played 3 hours more with no problem. Although bands like "Guns N Roses" and "U2" might be bigger and "easier-to-access" there is no doubt that one must really respect a band like "The Cure" for doing these long concerts. The ticket-prices (at least in Stockholm) were really reasonable and quite cheap, but you get much more value for the money than what you got with both "U2" and "G´NR" who painfully stuck to almost the same setlist every night on their last tour´s. To be fair, "U2" mixed it up quite alot back in 2005 and on the "360 Tour" and "G´N R" even played songs like "Locomotive", "The Garden" and "Back Off B***h" back in 1991/1992. These days not so much. I would sacrifice those big TV-screens and firecrackers for a simple stage-set up anyday, for a more mixed-up setlist(s). Big credits to "The Cure", who nailed every song with precise excellence, something that even one of my favorite bands "U2" sometimes fail to do. I also recorded the support-band "The Twilight Sad" who played an impressive support-slot. Perhaps the best opening-act for the last 10 years of "Arena-Rock-Openers", at least if you ask me. I´ll share their set later on. Even though "The Cure" is not my all-time favorite band, yet they´re the one who has always been there during the early 90´s to this day, and I´ve always been impressed by the songcraft in tracks like "Fascination Street", "Pictures Of You" and my all-time favorite of the more obscure songs, "Prayers For Rain", it´s easy to say that they accomplished something of their own. A universe of pure genius of both "hit pop songs" to something that could be described as "Post-Rock" before "Post-Rock"...
